Allotech International
J.L. French is the third largest aluminum secondary smelter in North America. By controlling the raw material we take waste out of the value stream and ensure global supply. Through proprietary smelting technologies and frequent spectrographic analysis we ensure uniform quality to the specified alloy to eliminate machining hard spots.
Beginning with purchased recycled material, the smelting operation cleans, separates, dries and preheats the aluminum prior to melting in our 1500 Kilowatt electric induction furnaces.
Material is then transferred to large gas fired reverberatory furnaces for final refinement, then tested before its delivery to the die cast floor.
Testing of the aluminum alloy is done in our customer certified laboratories. ARL spectrometers interfaced with PC's provide accurate elemental compositions with immediate S.P.C. feedback. The metallurgical labs also feature tensile and hardness testing and grain structure analysis using photomicrographs.
There are many advantages for smelting at J.L. French. We process our alloy with chlorine to assure the highest quality of metal cleanliness. When it comes to our alloy, we stock a reliable supply. We also house propane plants to back up the natural gas supply to provide an alternate energy source during fuel shortages. And finally we offer competitive metal pricing. At J.L. French, we hold ourselves to the highest standards for both our customers and the products we produce.
